These two calls are used to either release the second part of a more complicated move or to indicate the end of a move that has a variable length.
SeFue
EsoEs
lit. to the right

As the Leads move in, they veer to the right so that they can move back out into the next slot along to the right.
lit. to the left

Like ALaDerecha but to the left.
Rueda Names in General...
Some moves are called by different names depending on where you are dancing. If we know about a second name for a move we'll try and put it in.

Names on this Site...
On this site names of moves that are made up of more than one word have often been pushed together into one, with upper case letters telling you where the words are, they also get highlighted bold blue, to form LinksLikeThis. They are now what is called a Camel Case word. That's because this site is really a kind of wiki, and it uses camel case words to form links between documents. So although the title of a description may be DileQueNo, you should read that as the three words: Dile Que No.
[aba(ch)o – (welsh ch)] lit. down

Partners still in balroom hold. First a half mambo forward then partners step-step-step in TiempoDeEspana, Leads backward, Followers forward, around the circle.

Abajo may be used to refer to the down circle direction. (To your left if you face into the circle.) This call is also used to modify some other moves eg. NiParaMiNiParaTi
lit. too and fro

may also be known as Paseala

Follow dances a figure of eight in the leads arms in and out of the wheel. Lead stands with left shoulder towards the middle of the wheel.
* 123 Follow towards the middle of the wheel, on 3 makes the turn back out.
* 567 Follow towards the outside, on 5 makes the turn back in.
A bit of ballroom hold with a turn then move on to the next partner.
* 123 open break into ballroom hold
* 567 couple turns 180^^o^^ in the hold
* (7,8ish Lead ducks under the Follows right)
* 123 Lead moves to the left shoulder of the next Follow
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea
Starting with...
Adios
Prima

variations...

AdiosConLaHermana
AdiosConLaHermanaYLaFamilia
PrimaDoble
[err-mana]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX-3Xsove94

An Adios, Enchufle, DileQueNo.
* 123 open break into ballroom hold
* 567 couple turns 180^^o^^ in the hold, on the 7 the Lead needs to duck out under the Follows right arm ending up facing the middle of the circle, with the Follow behins them on the outside of the wheel. Leads use the 8 to start turning towards the Follows to lead:
* 123 anti-clockwise turn for the Follows, swapping places with the Leads
* 567 Leads gather the Follows to their right shoulder
* Finish DileQueNo.
Some groups finish this move passing on to the next partner Enchufle style, some with the DileQueNo. Bangor does DileQueNo.

A common variation uses one of the Modifiers. Whilst the Leads are gathering the Follows, call Exhibela to add a little to the move.
Starts as for AdiosConLaHermana but instead of gathering:
* 567 Lead goes arm in arm (right to right) with follow, making the first half turn.
* 123,567 a full turn arm in arm
* 123 Lead moves to the left shoulder of the next Follow
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea
Setenta
Sombrero
Jardin
Princesa
lit. up

The motion is like Abajo but the Leads move forward and the Followers backward in front of them.

Arriba may be used to refer to the up circle direction. (To your right if you face into the circle.) This call is also used to modify some other moves eg. NiParaMiNiParaTi.
* 123 lead Follow anti-clockwise into a cuddle. Lead should move to the outside of the wheel
* 567 Lead pulls out with the right to lead the Follow into a spin towards the next Lead on the right.
* on the 7 the circle should be able to link up to form a chain.
* 123 letting go of the original partner, Leads lead an anti-clockwise turn for the new Follow
* 567 Follow crosses out into Guapea
We have come accross a variation called Espe Jueno [ess-per (ch)ueno - (welsh ch)] where instead of a DileQueNo finish ther is an Enchufle finish, where you end up with your original partner
In this move the Leads mime a little: first they catch a ball, then they throw it and as it flies away they get distracted, shouting is mandatory :-)
* 123 Enchufle start
* 567 Leads move into the wheel
* 123 on 1 Leads 'catch' a ball low with a loud 'huh', on 3 throw it away high with a 'hah'.
* 567 Leads shade their eyes, and on noticing the next Follower finish with
* 123-567 DileQueNo
Followers should be doing something to attract the attention of the Leads.
Rueda starts to get interesting when you start changing partners. Here are some of the basics...

DameDosConDos
Used with MeQuiere, a call for the Follows. See MeQuiere for the full details
<<tagging move>>
<<tagging video>>
Whilst opening out in Guapea everybody presses hands with next partner along, (on 1ish), the whole wheel rotates in the Arriba direction.
[cara-mel-oh] Similar to Chocolate but leading by arm above head not off waist.
Another name for Guapea.

The basic movement in our salsa is often called Casino Basic. The style of Salsa that we do whilst we rueda is also called Casino style salsa. It comes from Cuba.
These are some of the very basic parts of the style of salsa that we try to dance at Bangor.

* 123 Enchufle start for the Follows
* 567 Leads gather the Follows, drawing them past and leading them out of the circle, leading off the waist
* 123 Leads mambo forward as they guide the Follow around the back
* 567 Leads mambo back, Follows move around the front
* 123 as before
* 567 Leads gather Follows to the right shoulder
* Finish DileQueNo.
Like Coquita for the Leads.

Leads do an anti-clockwise turn under their left arm. Follows continue to move the circle around. This works best in the Arriba direction.
With two claps.

At the end of a move whilst moving on to the next partner, clap twice on 78.
With a clap.

At the end of a move whilst moving on to the next partner, clap once on 7.
A DameDos on the end of another move.

On the end of a move that changes partners, if ConVicki is called don't go to the next partner to the right but to the second, like DameDos.

Not to be confused with ConDos.
Follows do a clockwise turn under the Leads left arm. Leads continue to move the circle around. This works best if called whilst the circle is moving Abajo.
Another name for MercochaOne. Bangor are starting to use this name in preference.

Variations...
(During the variations the Leads link up as for ElPuente)
* Croqueta ~ConAsperina - On the next 123, add an Exhibela for the Follows .
* Croqueta ~ConPuente - Change into ElPuente.
You can call ~ConPuente after an Asperina.
[dam-eh]

Moving on one partner. It's basically a DileQueNo with the next partner along.
* 123 Lead moves to the left shoulder of the Follow to his right.
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea

[doss]

Move on two partners.
* 123 the lead moves to the left shoulder of not the next, but the second Follow to his right.
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea
Variation of DameDos.

Best called immediately after a Dame or some other passing move, a bit tricky from a standing start.

Keeping hold of the current Follow the Leads make an arch with their left hand behind them, whilst moving to the right under the next arch (inside the circle) past the first Follow, up to the shoulder of the second Follow. At some point the hands will need to part (unless everybody has really long arms). Finish with a cross into Guapea.
Also known, and mostly called as DosConDos.

Similar to DameDos. Move on two partners with two claps. The claps are on the 7 immediately following the call. After the claps the Lead picks up the second Follow to the right, DileQueNo.
Variation of DameDos.

Leads turn to the left as they move on to the second follow.
[oon-ah]

Similar to Dame. Move on one partner with one clap. The clap is on the 7 immediately following the call. After the clap, pick up the next partner DileQueNo.
The Setup...
On the call of Daquiri, Leads reach with their left hand to next Follower (facing them) over the right arm of their own Follow. Followers connect with the Lead reaching for them with the right hand under their own Leads left arm. Arms are entwined around the circle.

To finish...
On a call of SeFue, Leads draw the Follow towards them with the	left arm. Follows will be ducking under the left arm of their own lead. Everything should unwrap leaving everybody with a new partner.
Hello There - About this site...
[dess]
Starts with:
* 123 an anti-clockwise turn
* 567 the follower is gatherd to the Leads right shoulder
Normally finished with a DileQueNo.
Sometimes this is another name for something, if it is we'll tell you and link to it.

If we want to give you a clue about pronouncing a name we'll put it in square brackets for example in Sacala...

//[sack-ah-la]//

If we know what it means we'll try and remember to tell you...

//lit. throw her away//

If we've got a video of it we'll link to it.

//youtube.com//

There's normally a dersription of the move next, including some information about the timing...

//A description of starting position or hands//
* //123 Describing steps in the first half of a measure//
* //567 Description of the second half//
* //123 Repeated as required.//

If the move is related to any other it usually has LinksLikeThis to the other moves.
lit. Tell her yes.

Start with VacillaLa, moving into TiempoDeEspana in the Arriba direction.
lit. Tell her no.

Starting with partners shoulder to shoulder, Follow on Leads right, then:
* 123 Lead does a firm break into centre of circle, Follow can swing the right hip out.
* 567 Follow is lead cross body into Guapea
This is the most used fundamental.
A shortened name for DameDosConDos.
Like UnTarro.

Leads move on, to the second Follow facing them, accross 16 beats.
* 123 Enchufle start
* 567 Leads move into the wheel
* 123 Leads stamp twice, left foot on 1, right foot on 3
* 567 Leads clapp twice on 5 and 7
* 123-567 complete the Enchufle with a DileQueNo
Call early
* 7 open out
* 123 'twist' three times

Echeverria with a turn.
Call early.
* 123 Echeverria on 3 Lead throws out Followers hand to the left to lead:
* 567 Follower turns clockwise, Lead turns anti-clockwise.
* 123-567 With the same Follower, Lead makes a big DileQueNo back into Guapea
[poo-en-tay]
* 123 Follows turn anti-clockwise, swapping places with the Leads
* 567 Leads gather Follows to the right shoulder, changing hands on 7 to go right to right
* 123 Leads mambo into the circle and join hands to form a bridge
* 567 Follows cross under the bridge
* 123 Leads mambo
* 567 Follows cross back
* 123 last mambo for the Leads
* 567 Leads let go of the bridge and Follows cross out to finish, changing hands back for the Guapea
Same as LaRosa, but instead of a big arm motion the Follows do a little shimmy on the way into the centre of the wheel.
An anti-clockwise turn for the Follow and a change of partner.
* 123 Anti-clockwise turn for the Follow, swapping places with Lead
* 567 Lead walks into the right arm of the current Follow towards the next.
* 123 Lead moves to the left shoulder of the next Follow
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea
Pointers...
In the second part the Lead walks into the Follows arm in an effort to keep the Follow closer to the middle of the circle. If the Follow is released too soon the the wheel tends to drift appart slightly.

Also called PelotasConCinco.

An Enchufle where the Leads 'high five' in the middle of the wheel whilst moving to the next Follow.
* 123 Anti-clockwise turn for the Follow, swapping places with Lead
* 567 Leads walk into the circle for a high five with the leads on either side.
* 123 Lead turns out anti-clockwise (to their left) from the middle of the circle to the next Follow.
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea
A turn to shoulder stop and out, another turn, then move on.
* 123 Anti-clockwise turn for the Follow, into a shoulder stop. The Lead places the free right hand onto the Left shoulder of the Follow, sutting short the turn and indicating the next part
* 567 Follow turns back out.
* 123 Another anti-clockwise turn for the follow
* 567 Lead walks into the right arm of the current Follow towards the next.
* 123 Lead moves to the left shoulder of the next Follow
* 567 Follow crosses new Lead into Guapea

Starts with a crossed hand hold, right to right.
* 123 anti-clockwise turn for the Follow, swapping places with Lead
* 567 Leads turn anti-clockwise, moving into and turning back on the centre of the circle, taking themselves into a reverse arm lock
* 123 Leads duck under left starting to turn anti-clockwise
* 567 Leads continue to complete the anti-clockwise turn, (Follows look pretty) moving out of circle
* 123 Leads move to Follows right shoulder
* 567 Follows cross out to Guapea.

* 123 Lead turns clockwise a turn and a half into a left arm lock.
* 567 press palms as you would Guapea
* 123 Lead steps left on 1 to duck under right, careful with that elbow.

* 123 Lead starts with strong break forward into circle
* 567 Follow does clockwise turn under arm towards centre of circle

Can be done with either of Leads hands to Followers right. Follows can shout out as they move in to the circle on 5.
To give enough time this is usually called around the 1.

Starting with an Exhibela for the Follows, finishing DileQueNo.
During an Exhibela the Leads Ronde.

On 567, whilst the Follows are turning under arm, the Leads Ronde changing hands behind their backs. Partners finish up shoulder to shoulder again, right hand in right hand. Often finished with a DileQueNo.
Like FestivalDeEnchufle but with Adios between the clapping.
A series of three Enchufle with clapping in between. One clap after the first turn, two claps after the second, three claps to finish before moving on to the final partner. Claps start on the 7 whilst changing partners.
Called on 5 opening out on 67, calp once towards the next partner along on 1, back into Guapea.

Variations...
Fly Low - clap down at ankle height.
Fly High - jump up to clap.

(Makes a good sequence if you call three in a row: Fly Low - Fly - Fly High.)
Also called Casino.

[goo-ap-ay-ah or w-ah-pay-ah]

The Casino basic. Partners stay connected with the Leads left hand and Followers right. Followers just mambo. Leads have their footwork switched around. So that on:
* 123 men break back with their left, away from woman
* 567 forward on the right, pressing some weight into partners palm.
As the partners move appart they should swing away from each other slightly. In a wheel this has the effect of bringing you shoulder to shoulder with the next partner along. So that everybody is part of a circle. Swinging back in to press palms, repeat...
[echo with ch as in chuck]

This is a stepped out clockwise turn for the Followers. On:
* 8 Lead takes left hand to the right to indicate start of move
* 123 Lead takes left hand up and out to the left, lead moves off to the left around the follow, whilst the Follow starts turning out to her right, stepping around in a circle
* 567 the circle tightens to curl, ending with partners shoulder to shoulder.
Often finished off with a DileQueNo.
A stepped out clockwise turn (Hecho) followed by an anti-clockwise turn (DesHecho).
This site has been put up by the people at SalsaBangor, we're not professionals, we just love our rueda. So please take this site as it comes. It's mainly here as a memory jogger for people who dance at Bangor. If it's of use to anyone else then we're more than happy.

We use a menu down the left hand side to divide the moves into groups. First click on an item in the left hand menu to make that section pop up. Any words that are in blue, bold font are links to open further chunks of text (LinksLikeThis), typically the description of that move. You should also have a look at DescribingADescription. If you want to know if there's anything new since your last visit here, have a look at the 'Timeline' at the right of the page, this lists the sections according to when they were last edited.

You can take home a copy of all this information by going to the MTSDownloadPanel and following the instructions. Doing so will save a copy of this page that you can view and even edit off-line.

Enjoy your rueda.

Freeze frame for a measure.

When it's called everybody strikes a pose and stands still for 8 beats before going back into Guapea.
Jump, Bump and Fall in.
* 1 jump away from your partner and towards the next partner (stay connected with your partner)
* 3 bump behinds with the next partner along
* 5 fall back into Guapea. (Fall is probably the best decription if you want to stay in time.)
An Enchufle start. Before moving on the Lead raises both arms (beat 3ish) of their current partner and does a 3 step police patdown 567 before moving on.
Another name for Adios.

Some groups use Prima, some use Adios. They are interchangable but you get used to listening out for the one your group uses. Bangor uses Adios mainly, but Prima is used at the start of some moves where they were introduced that way, or where it saves confusing similar Adios moves.
The main motion of the move is the same as LaRosa, but both Leads and Follows make the big sweeping arm action. The big difference is in the start, on the way into the move:
* 123 Starts like an Adios (Prima), getting into ballroom hold
* 567 couples turn 180^^o^^, Lead moves on to the outside of the next Follow along
* 123 Leads come into the circle through the next gap along from where they started, big arms on the way back out
* 567 Leads out, Follows in
* 123,567 repeat
* When called, finish DileQueNo
A double Adios
* 123 Start like Adios
* 567 Continue the Adios, but Leads don't let go, ducking out on the 7 and

* 567 Follower is gathered again to the right shoulder and the Lead takes the right hand over the top again.

It's like an Enchufle, but as the Leads move on to the next partner instead of walking into an arm, the gently slap the hand it's attached to (somewhere around the 5). Follows soon get their revenge as they slap the backside thats then passing them (somewhere around the 7)
Starting with two hands:
* 123 open break and together into an offset position, so that your partner is on your right
* 567 Follow led into a clockwise spin whilst the Lead does a Ronde (letting go of hands)
* DileQueNo to finish.
A hook turn for the Leads.

On 567 the lead turns clockwise. Either under an arm or changing hands behind their back.
Usually the calling in a rueda is done by one lead. The Cantando (lit. singer). However the lead of the wheel can be passed from one person to another and Follows can call too. The caller shouts out the names of the moves and the wheel executes them. It's something that needs a bit of practice.

Most begginer calls will be made on the beat of 5, it's the default timing for a call. Some need to be called on or around the beat of 1, we'll try and remember to make a note in the moves description if its call needs to be timed on 1.

We do a few variations that have either a slighty different way into the flower or a different thing is done whilst flowering... erm, I guess you have to see it.
